Birthday Cards

The sunshine today made me think that Spring might actually be on its way. I made a run to Target and didn't even wear my coat. It was 35 degrees out and warmer than it's been in months. I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere...you know you're from Iowa when you think 35 degrees is warm. Yuk, yuk, yuk... :)

Today I'm going to show you two cards. One, is essentially a reincarnation of one I showed you before. My other niece is turning 11 and I sent her money for a gift. She was heading to Mall of America in Mpls with her mom (my sister) so I thought she should have some spending money.

The other card I wanted to try out my new clear Spica pen. I like that I can make things shimmery without getting messy with glitter. I'm dipping my toe into the world of sparkles and I'm ankle deep using this pen. I colored each of the colored blocks and really, really love the slight shimmer they give. I like that this card is very simple and minimalist but it feels like it's missing something. Maybe it's just me. What else does it need, do you think?

I have some other cards that I've been working on and need to Photoshop them yet before I can post them. They always turn out so gray! Does anyone have any links on tutorials for taking better pictures of cards and/or scrapbook pages?????
Have a great week everyone!

Jennifer, I love your little money candle - I need to remember that! You should have gone with to the Mall of America - we could have met up for some crafting time!

Thanks for leaving me some blog love today!

Jennifer your candle/money card is absolutely amazing. You are so clever to use the money that way! Plus, I LOVE the purple with the orange! Too yummy.
Your CAS card does not need a thing IMHO. It's perfect. And, you photographed these two card beautifully! You don't need a tutorial at all, but maybe you could TEACH one for the rest of us!

Love the candle card ....... very smart there young lady. I love how simple the second card is and because nothing else is going on against the white you see the shimmer of the squares ....... does that make sense I am tired and it is only 530 YIKES!!!
