Just stopping in to share a card I made for this week's MIM - stamping ombre backgrounds. I just love this look! I looked and looked for a stamp that would work well with this technique and found this set of wavy lines in PTI's Circle Scribbles.
I had a little boo-boo on the bottom corner and covered it up with this cute heart from PTI's Love Lives Here. I stamped it in red, outlined it with my black pen, and then covered it with Glossy Accents. Just the perfect addition to this little card.
I popped up the center panel on pop-dots.
Blue cardstock is Bazzill Card Shoppe in Whirlypop - such a fun, bright blue!

Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop
Yea! I got a project done for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop! One tag down, 50 more to go... :)
This month's challenge was to choose a color inspiration. I chose the one below. Not only was I inspired by the color, but also by the stripes.
First I stamped rows of stars from Around and About Sentiments in Pure Poppy (PTI), Fuschia (Fresh), Hawaiian Shores (PTI), and Basil (Fresh.) Then I die cut that using the Tag Sale 4 die. I also cut a second tag from vellum to layer on top.
I put some Glossy Accents around the edge and sprinkled on some "snow" from my Tinsel and Tags kit. I added a bow die cut, also from the Tinsel and Tags kit, from Raspberry Fizz, and tied it on with some baker's twine.
Thanks for dropping by and enjoy your hop!

MIM #184 Dipped Die Cuts
Even though these balloons are not dipped in gold embossing powder like the MIM video, I still thought it was a pretty cool technique and I wanted to try it. So, I dipped some balloons in colored embossing powder. It's a fun look!
I used the balloon from PTI's Birthday Style. I used a curvy landscape die from Lawn Fawn and a sentiment from Paper Smooches. Embossing powder is from Zing. Cardstock is from PTI. Washi tape is at the top of the card.
You Totally Rock
I'm such a sucker for rainbows. I love them. They make me happy. And this new sentiment set Uplifters from Paper Smooches also makes me happy.
I used the trio star stamp from Papertrey's Out On A Limb to stamp all over this cardstock in a variety of ink colors. Aren't they pretty together? And then I used Bazzill Card Shoppe in Whirlypop for my sentiment strip.
I had lots of stars in my dish of die cuts (extras and rejects from previous projects.) And these three I stacked together, added a little Wink of Stella to the top one (of course) and voila!

Reverse Confetti - In A Big Way
I received this gorgeous In A Big Way Reverse Confetti sentiment set last month and I just love it!
I blended some Distress inks on my background and then stamped on top of that in black. I added a candle and topped it with my Wink of Stella pen (yes, again) and then some Glossy Accents. I then scored some lines around the edges and popped it up with foam tape onto my card base. I used Papertrey Ink's Basic Background: Super Stripes and some WPlus9 white ink to stamp some stripes on my card base. The stripes added some punch to the card - it was so plain otherwise.

Joy tag with Phrase Play #8
When I was on my crafty retreat last month I got to borrow this fabulous Phrase Play #8 die and the coordinating stamp set. I love it! It's my favorite one and I'm going to have to buy it for myself.
I cut the die from Raspberry Fizz cardstock and mounted it on Vintage Cream. I then trimmed around it (I looked in my stash for a mat that would fit or work and didn't have one so just used the good ol' trimmer. :) )
I added a bit of shimmer to the star with my Wink of Stella pen. Love that thing. My intent is to use this as a tag - punch a small hole in the top corner and thread it with some pretty baker's twine.

Mr. & Mrs.
I masked a heart with some scratch paper then filled it with some ornate scroll-y images. A simple Mr. & Mrs. over the top provided the sentiment. Then I put the whole thing through my Big Shot with an impression plate to add some texture.

Soaring
I wanted to try out some ink blending and a new Avery Elle stamp set called Look Up. This is the combo of that experiment. I wasn't sure where I was headed with it as I was making it, but I rather like it!
Distress Inks: Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade.
I added some water drops for interest and then went over the feathers with my Wink of Stella pen to glitz it up a bit.

Cure for the Monday Blues #31
Just popping in to join Taheerah's Cure for the Monday Blues challenge #31. I loved how cheery and bright the inspiration photo was and the bedding inspired me right away to use Papertrey's Mehndi Medallion stamp set.
Here's the inspiration photo.
And here's my take on it...
I heat embossed the Mehndi Medallion in white all over the front of the card. Then I blended some Distress Ink (Mustard Seed) over it.
I add a thin strip of pink stripe paper along with a sentiment (Papertrey Think Big) and then inked the edges with some green ink.
Enjoy your day!

SAF 1960 rad ad
Well, I didn't have much that would work for the 1960s era either. But, I found these flowers from Beautiful Blooms and thought they looked groovy and could fit right in.
I tried to stick to the colors Erin used and the negative die cuts and the off center mat. I dunno. The card is cute enough but it doesn't really scream 1960.

SAF project - 1920 bling
I didn't buy the SAF kit so I looked through my stash to see if something else could work for the 1920s era. That's when I stumbled upon the dragonfly from Happy Trails. I think that image was used a lot in brooches, hair pins, Tiffany lamps and the like in the 1920s. I die cut it from clear cardstock and then blinged the heck out of it! :)
Stamp-a-faire projects - Timer Challenge #2
My second card I made for the timer challenge at Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire. This took just shy of 11 minutes.
Stamp-a-faire 2014 projects - Timer Challenge #1
We had lots of soccer this past weekend but I was able to sneak in a few projects from Papertrey Ink's Stamp-a-faire event.
Timer Challenge #1:
About 10 minutes for this one. It took me the longest to decide on a card base color!

MIM 175: partial die cut borders
I had such fun whipping up this card for this week's Make It Monday challenge. Danielle challenged us to use a shape die and do a partial die cut on the edge to create a border. I chose to use the teapot from Tea for Two stamp set. The sentiment is from another old set Everyday Button Bits. A couple oldies but goodies! The patterned paper is from October Afternoon. The card is just a small 4 x 4".

Partial die cutting
I see lots of partial die cutting in blogland and I love the look of it. This took me a few times to get it right, but I got it. This was a card I made for my dad's retirement.
I popped up the front, die-cut sentiment onto another panel stamped with images from Papertrey's Grunge Me.
I somehow ended up with a small smudge of yellow ink, barely visible to anyone but me!, but I didn't like it so I covered it with another stamped sentiment from Paper Smooches.

MIM 173
I've been playing along with a few of the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday challenges, but this is the first one in a while that I've actually managed to photograph and blog before the deadline.
Heather's challenge this week was a "no outline watercolor". I've been having such fun with watercoloring!
Stamps used were Papertrey Ink's Friendship Jar and Friendship Jar Fillers.

Stencil it
So I picked up a stencil at Michael's a month or so ago and played with it a bit. Not super crazy about this card but not totally repulsed either. It didn't go in the circular file/recycle bin! :)
I think it's the color combo and the embossing color that's throwing me. I kind of like the funky-ness but it still seems a little off. Oh well. Maybe I have a wild and crazy friend that will get this one.
Stencil: Heidi Swapp (Michael's)
Stamp: Get to the Point Sentiments (Papertrey Ink)

Card for a friend
A sweet and simple card I made for a friend.
I'm not sure what that white shadow is around the flower - maybe the powder dust from when I embossed it? Don't know but it's not there IRL. Maybe a ghost? lol
Stamp: Friends Til The End (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Black, white, Pure Poppy (PTI)
Other: bit of ribbon from my stash.

Happy birthday to my brother
My brother has artistic flair and he is married to an artist so I felt the need to step up my game a little bit and do some watercoloring on this card for him.
I heat embossed the circles in white then water colored over them using my ink refills and water.
To make the banner I put a piece of gray/white stripe washi tape over some white card stock and then die cut the banner using my PTI double ended banner die. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.
